User Manual
Most user interface components included in frameworks do not require a special user manual, but because of the complexity of the Gantt chart component it is required in this case. It is important to note that most of the behaviour described in this manual can be altered by the individual applications built on top of FlexGantt.
The Gantt chart consists of several components, which will be described in more detail in separate chapters: one or more tree tables on the left-hand side, one or more layer containers on the right-hand side, a single tree table header, a single timeline. The timeline consists of two parts, a dateline and an eventline. The dateline is responsible for displaying time (weeks, days, hours), the eventline is responsible for displaying activities and events that are relevant for all rows within the Gantt chart. Each tree table is accompanied by a tree table row header (visible by default). Each layer container is accompanied by a layer container row header (invisible by default). The tree table column header is shared by all tree tables, which means that all tables will have the same columns.
Besides these major components,
the Gantt chart also contains a vast array of controls used
for various purposes. Some of these controls will only be
accessible if the Gantt chart has been configured to show
them. These controls are: navigation controls in the upper
right corner of the layer container, utility controls in
the lower left corner of the layer container, and paging
controls to the right of the utility controls.
Two more components can be used
with the Gantt chart but are not directly embedded inside
of it: the toolbar and the statusbar.
