Statusbar
In most applications the status bar will be located right below the Gantt chart. The status bar displays information about the Gantt chart with which it is associated. It contains several status bar fields:
- Status - used for displaying arbitrary text information, e.g. the name of the activity over which the mouse cursor is currently hovering.
- Mouse cursor time - displays the time point at the current location of the mouse cursor. If the cursor hovers over an activity then this field displays the time span of the activity.
- Progress bar - only visible when used. The bar reports progress of long running operations, e.g. server-side commands triggered by the user. The bar automatically hides when the operation is complete.
- Grid - displays an icon when the grid is turned on.
- Popups - displays an icon when popups are turned on.
- Crosshair - displays an icon when the crosshair is turned on.
- Key Strokes - brings up a small window with a listing of the currently registered key strokes. Clicking inside the window will execute the selected key stroke / action.
- Memory - displays the memory usage of the application (hidden feature: clicking on this field triggers a garbage collection causing all unused memory to be freed).
- System / application time - in most situations and for most applications this field simply shows the system time of the computer on which the application is running. However, applications that deal with simulations might use a different time.
- Scroll lock - disables the horizontal scrollbar and causes the visible area of the Gantt chart to follow the vertical line that represents the current system time. This automatic scrolling is a great feature for applications that are primarily used for monitoring, e.g. in manufacturing execution systems.
- Time zone - displays the time zone used by the timeline. Clicking on this field brings up a small window, that can be used to change the time zone.
