System Layers
The following is a list of all 16 system layers. . Some of them can be turned on or off, depending on whether the feature that they visualize is currently enabled or not.
| System Layer | Description |

| Background Layer | fills the background of the layer container with a solid color or a texture (optional alternating row colors) |
| Calendar Layer | draws the information returned from the calendar model (weekends, holidays) |
| Crosshair Layer | draws a crosshair that can be used in training sessions |
| Dateline Layer | fills the currently focused time span with a transparent color |
| Drag Layer | performs anything related to drag & drop operations |
| Editing Layer | handles in-place editing of timeline objects |
| Eventline Layer | draws the time spans and time points of eventline activities / events inside the layer container |
| Grid Layer | draws the vertical grid lines |
| Label Layer | draws the text labels next to the timeline objects |
| Lasso Layer | shows the lasso when the user performs a selection with the control key down |
| Popup Layer | renders the popups with additional information about a timeline object |
| Relationship Layer | draws lines connecting two timeline objects if a relationship exists between them |
| Row Layer | renders the background of individual rows |
| Selection Layer | fills selected time spans with a solid color |
| Time Now Layer | draws a vertical line at the location of the current system time |
